Adrenal Fatigue SyndromeWhat is Adrenal Fatigue?Adrenal fatigue syndrome is a hard to diagnose and hard to treat. What is adrenal fatigue? What are adrenal exhaustion symptoms? Low adrenal function can have a significant impact on your health. Adrenal fatigue syndrome is typically stress related and is demonstrated through poor or weakened adrenal function. It is often hard to diagnose and can be misdiagnosed as other health issues (such as thyroid problems). It is called a syndrome because it represents a number of symptoms resulting from poor and/or inefficient functioning of the adrenal glands. Adrenal Exhaustion SymptomsAdrenal exhaustion symptoms include extreme tiredness, trouble getting up in the morning, exhaustion during the day, a feeling of being run down, easily stressed and more. You may feel like you need to sleep all day; but if you can get sleep you will feel tired and not rested. Low Adrenal FunctionIn addition to being the result of high and continuous levels of physical and/or mental stress, poor adrenal function can be triggered by other health issues such as respiratory infection, pneumonia, and/or flu. As adrenal hormone production is limited by decreased gland activity, your body will try to compensate for the poor function. But that can result in over-stressing other parts of the body. Sleep patterns are affected. Moods and emotional stability are affected. Metabolism of fats, sugars, proteins and carbohydrates can be compromised. How to Test for Adrenal Exhaustion? If you suspect adrenal exhaustion, ask your doctor to be tested. You can test for adrenal exhaustion syndrome through the Cortisol/DHEAS Saliva test. It measures DHEAS and Cortisol and provides information on the variation of cortisol levels. Saliva hormone tests provide information on hormonal imbalances that can also be the cause of conditions other than low adrenal function, such as chronic fatigue, diabetes, insomnia, and more. Treating Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome
