Causes For Headaches

Why Do You Have a Constant Headache?

Find the causes for headaches: from daily headaches to constant headaches. What is a headache? Find the cause of frequent headaches and how to treat headaches naturally and without drugs.

There are many causes for headaches. And while many people suffer through daily constant headaches, there are some wonderful natural remedies that can help reduce the painful symptoms of a constant headache.

What is a Headache?

The main cause of headaches is due to a constriction or dilation of blood vessels in the head.

The relaxing or dilation is also thought to bring on that terrible 'pounding pain' associated with most headaches. Researchers also believe the pain in your head is caused by the trigeminal nerve; which carries sensory impulse.

The main definition of a headache is a constant pain in the shoulder, neck, behind the eyes, and/or the whole general head/temple area of the face.

There are three major types of headache:

  • Primary Headaches
  • Secondary Headaches
  • Facial or cranial neuralgias pain

Causes of Frequent Headaches

In our fast paced, multi-tasking world, many of us have frequent, daily and/or constant headaches. To more effectively treat them, researchers are trying to find the causes for frequent headaches. But unfortunately, there can be hundreds of reasons why someone would suffer from daily headaches.

Causes of frequent headaches, which are sometimes called cluster headaches, are believed to be biological in nature: hormones and/or hypothalamus (which is located in the brain and is said to manage your 'biological clock') are thought to be headache triggers.

Some headaches may affect a person for just a few days; for others, it may linger for months at a time. Some more serious causes of frequent headaches can be related to medical conditions like infections, diabetes, disease, or tumors. Sometimes constant headaches can be the result of an injury to the head.

Other not so common causes for headaches are due to problems of the mouth like impacted teeth, problems with the jaw, or gums. Other reasons involve problems with sinuses or ear infections, as well as eye and vision disorders. Daily headaches can also result from allergies or exposure to certain chemicals or even barometric pressure changes.

Natural Remedies - Causes for Headaches

Regardless of what types of headaches you suffer from whether it’s migraine headaches, cluster headaches, or tension headaches, there are some life style changes and natural herbs that can help provide relief. However, make sure that you have been diagnosed by your physician to ensure there is no serious underlying medical reason for your constant headaches.

Most important, stay hydrated and drinking enough water. Many adults do not drink enough water, and dehydration can easily result in a headache. Other lifestyle changes include getting more exercise. Just thirty minutes of physical activity a day improves circulation and helps to relieve stress (one of many common causes of headaches).

Eat healthy foods. Try to avoiding food dyes and processed food which are VERY common causes of daily headaches. If you have allergies, make sure that you manage them - and if you are unsure about whether or not you have allergies, get tested.

Sleep and relaxation techniques. Getting plenty of good sleep and practicing relaxation techniques like meditation can help reduce constant headaches.
