get rid of a corn
by c
do corn removal remedies work? Hello, That's a good question. I think it depends on the person and how thick the corn is. My mother used commercial corn removers along with some home remedies and she had good results. But the problem was - her corns were caused by the shoes she wore. Those high pointy heels contributed to more callouses....so it was a constant battle :-) Here are some tips you can try - in addition to corn removers..... First, and you probably already know this......try to reduce whatever is causing the callous to develop in the first place. For example, if you wear high heals, try to use padded inserts and try to give your feet a break whenever possible. Wear soft comfortable shoes as much as possible. Ok, well enough of life style changes, you're probably already aware of that. Next, try placing a few drops of pineapple juice on to the corn and cover it with a band-aid. Some people even suggest placing a small piece of pineapple rind.....fruit side down, onto the corn and secure it with band-aid. Pineapple contains bromelain which helps digest dead skin cells (protein). Leave this on over-night and try to do this several nights in a row. If you feel any discomfort, remove it and rinse it off right away. Another tip is to try an aspirin mask. Use a few crushed aspirins mixed with a small amount of water to make a paste and apply it the same as pineapple juice. Make sure the aspirins are not coated and do not contain extra ingredients....use just plain old aspirins. Of course soaking the callous a few times a week in warm salt water and filing the callous down with a pumice to remove the extra dead skin cells can help too. Just be careful not to irritate the area....especially if you're using other remedies. And as always -- If you feel any discomfort -- rinse it off right away. Good luck, I hope this information helps. |
