Heart Healthy TipsNatural Old Home Remedies for Having a Healthy HeartThese heart healthy tips include natural old home remedies and advice. Having a healthy heart means following a healthy heart menu and eating plan and doing regular exercise. It also means balancing our lives to reduce stress and to enjoy life. We all know that having a healthy heart means we have to: eat a healthy diet; do regular exercise; not smoke; minimize our stress - or learn how to handle it; and maintain a weight that is healthy for your age and body. You want your heart to be efficient at pumping blood through your body, and you want to reduce the plaque within your arteries to minimize your risk of heart attack. We need to know how to lower cholesterol naturally. But knowing what to do, and doing it, is not always the same thing.
What is a Healthy Heart Rate?Resting Heart Rate: Take a measurement of how many times your heart beats per minute at rest: do the measurement when you are laying down and breathing normally. The best time to measure your heart rate is in the morning after you wake up. Your heart rate is affected by age, gender (men generally have a lower heart rate), physical fitness, stress, medical condition and/or medications. An average to good adult resting heart rate ranges from 60 to 80 times a minute at rest. Physically fit adults have a lower heart rate. Over 80 is an indicator of poor heart performance - this could be for a number of reasons - see your doctor for more information. Heart Healthy Tips: A focus on improving your physical fitness will help your heart rate (providing your doctor approves of your exercise plan). One of the favourite natural old home remedies to increase fitness (without having to go to the gym): Walk!
Walk to the store to pick up groceries. Walk your dog daily. Walk with your partner or friends. If you feel you don’t have enough time because of work, park your car 5 blocks away from work and walk those 5 blocks daily (then increase by a block or two a week). Try a pedometer to count the number of steps you take daily. The average working adult takes about 1000 to 3000 steps daily; the healthy heart rate goal is to do 10,000 steps daily. Once you start measuring your steps you will be able to focus on increasing your fitness and improving your heart rate.
What is Healthy Heart Eating?Along with improving your physical fitness, you need to ensure that you are following a healthy heart eating menu plan. This means following what you heard so often throughout your childhood: "Eat Your Vegetables!" And fruits, and complex carbohydrates. Heart Healthy Tips: A focus on improving your diet (even if you don’t need to lose weight make sure that you eat an assortment of healthy foods) will help your heart and reduce cholesterol. Natural old home remedies: Healthy heart eating means that your dinner plate needs to be half full with an assortment of vegetables, one quarter with protein and one quarter with starch or grains - preferably with healthier complex grains such as wild rice, brown rice, barley, bulgar, quinoa, wheat germ, and cracked wheat. As an industrialized society, we eat more protein than we need (usually cooked in fat) and we eat more refined grains and starches than we should.
Having a Healthy Heart and Natural Old Home RemediesWe all know that having a healthy heart requires that we take care of our bodies. But we tend to put other priorities ahead of our own health: priorities such as our children and family, our work, and our friends. We need to focus on ourselves first to ensure that we are healthy enough to participate in all the other activities and priorities in our lives.
