Hormone HeadachesMenopause Headaches, Morning Headaches, Pregnancy Headaches, and More. Many women have hormone headaches. Find natural relief from hormonal headaches such as menstrual headaches, pregnancy headaches, menopause headaches, even morning headaches with simple herbal remedies. Hormonal Headaches - InformationBecause hormonal headaches tend to be painful, they're sometimes mistaken for a migraine. The key difference between the two is that a hormonal headache usually 'houses' itself in one side of the head. Like a migraine, a woman may feel nauseous and become sensitive to sound or light. Effectively hormonal headaches can be just as incapacitating as a migraine. Mind you, the intensity varies from person to person; so much so that even a doctor can confuse the two. Hormone headaches may even get worse with weather changes (like a sudden drop in barometric pressure), these are usually called barometric pressure and headaches. Both men and women can experience hormone headaches. Serotonin is the primary hormone that triggers headaches; researchers believe it is the way the hormone is metabolized in the body that causes a headache, and in some extreme cases, causes a migraine. Morning HeadachesSome women experience a headache in the morning on a regular basis. While this may be a result of hormonal changes, and/or a menstrual headache, it could also be a result of low blood sugar (often a morning 'event' - after no food for a long period of time), or related to blood pressure issues, and there is some relationship to snoring (and breathing improperly throughout the night). If you regularly experience a morning headache, talk to your medical doctor and have the cause properly diagnosed. Menstrual Headaches: Menopausal HeadachesThese types of headaches usually result in a drop in estrogen. Estrogen regulates the menstrual cycle. In menstruating women, estrogen levels tend to fall about two days before a woman's period. And in menopausal women, dropping levels of estrogen also can result in hormonal headaches. Oral contraceptives can effect estrogen levels, therefore women using birth control pills may experience more menstrual headaches. Track your headaches and discuss the potential cause with your doctor; you may want to request a change in the birth control pills to see if it helps with the headaches. Contraceptives and Hormone Related HeadachesContraceptives can cause headaches. For some women taking contraceptives will stop the headaches because they balance out hormones. In other women, they cause headaches because the pill changes hormone levels. So, some level of trial-and-error may have to occur to see if contraceptives will help you or make matters worse. Pregnancy HeadachesThe most common times during pregnancy to experience hormone headaches is the first trimester and then again postpartum. This, of course, is when hormone levels are changing the most dramatically. Over 60% of pregnant women who experienced a hormonal headache early in pregnancy reported that the problem disappeared by around the fourth month. Some OBGYNS will allow pregnant women to take Tylenol during pregnancy to offset the pain of a hormonal headache. But always check before doing this on your own. Natural Treatments For Hormone HeadachesHormone headaches respond best if treated as soon as any signs occur. While these headaches can be treated pretty much like a normal headache - responding well to Motrin or Advil - consider a more natural, safer treatment like Headache Soothe, an all natural homeopathic remedy. This simple yet effect remedy is easy to take: only 10 drops a day in your mouth or favorite drink. This special remedy has been formulated to help relieve that constant pounding, tension, and relieve heaviness in your head, shoulders, and neck. It’s also wonderful for stress, fatigue and tension related headaches. Many women have reported excellent results from severe hormone headaches and are glad they no longer have to rely on toxic prescription drugs. However, even though Headache Soothe is all natural and is FDA registered, if your hormonal headaches are extremely severe or you’re under a doctor’s care, please check with your doctor before taking any supplement.
