Salicylic Acid and Acne blotches...

by Steve
(Philadelphia, Pa.)

Hi,

I saw your blog post to the girl with oily skin and acne problems. I just wanted to share with you what has worked for me. I have always had really bad acne breakouts and lots of whiteheads and blackheads. I saw an interview with a dermatologist on The Doctors Show.

She said that salicylic acid is best for solving acne problems. I've been using a Dermal Cleanse Gel for a few weeks now and my skin is starting to clear up pretty nicely. I also use the botanical acne spot mask treatment at night. You dap this mask on your red spots, whiteheads and blackheads and leave it on over night. In the morning, they're all dried up and come off when I wash my face.

Thanks for the baking soda tip. I'll try it. Can I use the baking soda scrub along with the derma cleans acne gel?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for sharing your acne tips with us. Yes, salicylic acid is great for acne, blotchy rough skin, dry patchy skin, and wrinkles too. I don't have a problem with acne, but use the salicylic acid gel cleanser about once a week to help slough off dead skin cells and uncover the new, fresh skin underneath.

The older we get the less effective our skin is at shedding old skin cells....so we have to help this process along with products that contain gentle exfoliators like salicylic acid, witch hazel, and vitamin B5.

Yes, you can use the Dermal Cleanse Gel and the Botanical Acne Mask along with the baking soda scrub. Just don't use them at the same time.

So for example: I would use the scrub once or twice a week at night. Then dab the botanical mask only on the problem areas and go to bed. In the morning apply the Dermal Cleanse Gel to the affected areas only.

Bottom line, just don't use the scrub and the gel at the same time. It may be too much for most skin types.

Thanks again,

Linda, Admin Natural Old Home Remedies.
